The Plunge in Down East Magazine
It was such an honor to have my first published essay, The Plunge, appear in September’s issue of Down East Magazine. With October nearly upon us and the new month’s magazines already hitting the shelves, I’m struck by what a strange and uncomfortable and incredibly powerful experience sharing something so personal has been. I’m so grateful to Sarah for trusting me with our story, and for getting into that water with me each and every month. We keep joking that now we really have to stick with it, but the truth is we’d be doing it no matter what. It's a reset our bodies (and minds) have come to long for; a reminder to soak in every moment of this crazy adventure here on earth, to #choosejoy.
Since the piece has come out, I’ve heard from friends and colleagues old and new, and it makes me so happy to know that our strange tradition here on a slice of Maine’s coast has moved or inspired them.
